Position: Retail Manager

Salary: $75,000 to $85,000 per annum plus superannuation

Hours: 38 hours per week

Mode: Full-time

Location: South Yarra Melbourne

JIVIT Pty Ltd, trading as Jivit Maars, is a health-focused food business on Toorak Road, South Yarra. We offer gut-friendly soups, salads, meals and smoothie blends prepared with fresh, whole ingredients, oil-free cooking and house-made sauces, nut butters and plant-based milks. We serve dine-in and takeaway customers, take online orders and sell gift cards. We are looking for an experienced Retail Manager to join us full-time. The successful candidate will organise and control the operations of the business, manage sales and stock, lead the front-of-house team and make sure customers receive consistent, high-quality service. This role suits an experienced person who can manage a busy retail food outlet that is open seven days a week.

Key Responsibilities

• Business Operations and Planning
• Plan and manage daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, rosters and service standards.
• Set the product range and pricing with the owner, based on customer demand, sales trends and seasonal produce.
• Prepare and monitor budgets, sales targets and operating costs, and report on business performance to the owner.
• Sales and Customer Service
• Develop and implement strategies to increase in-store, takeaway and online sales, including gift card and promotional sales.
• Plan and coordinate promotions and marketing activities, including social media and in-store displays.
• Maintain high standards of customer service, handle customer enquiries and complaints, and resolve issues promptly.
• Stock Control and Purchasing
• Determine stock levels and order fresh produce, organic ingredients, packaging and other supplies from approved suppliers.
• Check deliveries for quantity, quality and freshness, and manage stock rotation, storage and wastage.
• Maintain accurate stock, sales and financial records, including point-of-sale and online order reconciliations.
• Negotiate with suppliers on pricing, quality and delivery terms.
• Staff Management and Training
• Recruit, select, train and supervise front-of-house and retail staff.
• Prepare staff rosters, allocate duties and monitor staff performance.
• Train staff on product knowledge, including ingredients, preparation methods and the health focus of the menu, so they can advise customers accurately.
• Compliance and Workplace Safety
• Ensure the business complies with food safety, hygiene, workplace health and safety, and consumer law requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe and well-presented store.

Skills and Qualifications

• Diploma or higher qualification in Retail Management, Business or Hospitality Management, or an equivalent qualification.
• At least 1 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience in staff supervision, stock control, budgeting and sales reporting.
• Experience with point-of-sale and online ordering systems.
• Strong understanding of food safety standards and customer service practices.
• Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
• An interest in health, nutrition or whole-food products is desirable.

Work Schedule

The position requires flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays, depending on operational needs.

Remuneration

An annual salary between $75,000 and $85,000 plus superannuation, depending on skills and experience.
