Position: Motor Mechanic (General)

Salary: $80,000 to $90,000 per annum plus superannuation

Hours: 38 hours per week

Good Times Garage is a small, close-knit workshop on the Fleurieu Peninsula, built on a love of cars and a strong

local community. Our work includes routine vehicle servicing, mechanical repairs and classic 4WD restorations,

including Toyota LandCruiser Troop Carriers.

About the role

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic to join our team full time.

You will carry out servicing, maintenance, fault diagnosis and mechanical repairs on light vehicles, alongside

mechanical work on restoration projects. We are looking for someone who takes pride in accurate diagnosis,

quality repairs and looking after customer vehicles.

Key responsibilities

• Detect and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in engines and vehicle components using diagnostic
  equipment, testing procedures and technical information.
• Inspect, dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering systems and other components to
  assess faults and wear.
• Repair or replace worn and defective parts, and reassemble mechanical components.
• Service and repair engines, transmissions, suspension, steering and braking systems.
• Perform scheduled maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication and engine adjustments.
• Test and adjust repaired components, and road test vehicles to confirm correct operation.
• Undertake mechanical repairs and component replacement as part of classic 4WD and Troop Carrier
  restoration projects.
• Maintain accurate job notes, diagnostic findings, parts records and time entries.
• Communicate additional repair requirements, safety concerns and delays to the owner.
• Follow workshop safety procedures and maintain tools, equipment and a clean work area.

Essential requirements

• Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, or an equivalent recognised automotive trade qualification.
• Relevant practical experience as a motor mechanic, including vehicle servicing, fault diagnosis and repair.
• A current driver’s licence.
• Ability to interpret technical information and use automotive diagnostic equipment.
• Clear communication, accurate record keeping and a commitment to safe, quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and cooperatively with the workshop team.

Highly regarded

• Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis.
• Experience with older Toyota LandCruisers, Troop Carriers, classic 4WDs or vehicle restoration.
