Salary: $79,000 – $85,000 per annum plus 12% superannuation

Get India Pty Ltd operates Get India, offering Indian cuisine prepared with traditional flavours, spices and cooking methods. The business aims to provide customers with quality meals through consistent food preparation, attentive service and a welcoming dining experience.

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Cook to prepare and cook menu items, maintain food quality and presentation, and support the smooth operation of our kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect ingredients and food supplies to ensure freshness, quality and suitability for use in preparing Indian dishes.
• Prepare and cook curries, rice dishes, appetisers, sauces and other menu items according to established recipes and kitchen standards.
• Operate and monitor ovens, grills, stoves and other cooking equipment, adjusting temperatures and cooking times to achieve the required results.
• Apply appropriate spices, seasonings and cooking techniques to maintain the flavour, texture and consistency of dishes.
• Portion and plate meals accurately, adding suitable sauces, gravies and garnishes in accordance with presentation and serving standards.
• Store ingredients and prepared food under appropriate temperature-controlled conditions, following food safety and stock rotation procedures.
• Prepare meals according to specified dietary requirements and customer requests, where the menu and kitchen facilities permit.
• Assist with estimating ingredient requirements, preparing food in advance and maintaining adequate supplies during service periods.
• Maintain clean and sanitary workstations, utensils and equipment in accordance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
• Assist with guiding junior kitchen staff and apprentices on food preparation methods and safe kitchen practices when required.

Qualification

• Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery (preferred but not required).

Skills and Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a professional kitchen.
• Experience preparing Indian cuisine is highly regarded.
• Knowledge of food preparation methods, cooking techniques and Indian ingredients.
• Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistent food quality and portion sizes.
• Understanding of food storage, temperature control and kitchen hygiene.
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment.
• Good teamwork, communication and time-management skills.
• Attention to detail in food preparation and presentation.
