Salary: $79,000 – $85,000 per annum + 12% superannuation

Anacompany Pty Ltd T/A Khao Mai Thai is seeking a skilled and passionate Chef to join our team at our Thai restaurant in Fitzroy North, Victoria. We are committed to serving flavourful Thai dishes prepared with quality ingredients and traditional family recipes. The successful candidate will help maintain the quality, consistency and presentation of our menu while supporting the smooth operation of our kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and refine menu items and daily specials, taking into account ingredient availability, food costs and customer preferences.
• Prepare and cook a range of Thai dishes, ensuring authentic flavours, consistent quality and attractive presentation.
• Monitor food quality throughout preparation and service, checking freshness, portion sizes, seasoning and presentation.
• Estimate ingredient requirements, order kitchen supplies and manage stock to minimise waste and maintain adequate inventory.
• Coordinate with management and front-of-house staff to ensure efficient food preparation and timely service.
• Demonstrate appropriate cooking methods and guide kitchen staff in preparation techniques and established recipes.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards, including the correct storage, handling and preservation of ingredients.
• Assist with training and supervising kitchen staff to maintain consistent standards and an organised working environment.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery (preferred but not mandatory).
• Diploma of Hospitality Management (preferred but not mandatory).

Skills and Other Requirements

• Minimum one year of relevant experience in a professional kitchen; experience preparing Thai cuisine will be highly regarded. Sound knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, kitchen operations and food safety requirements.
• Ability to manage kitchen priorities and maintain food quality during busy service periods.
• Good communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a genuine passion for preparing quality food.
